Assistant Designer
Assistant Designers needed! Premium, boho-chic lifestyle brand. Join a talented style culture design team that designs inspired women’s RTW lines. The role works closely under a Senior Designer and the VP of Creative Design. This is a great opportunity to learn and grow as a designer with a mentored senior design partner. You’ll be a part of the design cycle from concept to final ready-to-wear product & style imagery.

Assistant Designer - Knitwear, Woven’s & Sweaters
Assistant Designer – Dresses & Prints
Assistant Designer – Bottoms & Outerwear
Bring your passion for fashion, trend insight & foresight, enthusiasm and Adobe skills to help support a creative team with innovative and compelling designs & strong visual collections.
What you’ll be doing

Inspirational research – review and gather images of runways, trends, styles and aspirational looks via social media (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.) for the VP of Design

Work with a variety wovens, knit patterns, layouts + placements.

Create colorways of artwork and prepare the artwork for Tech Design to pass to vendors

Color Dolls + Sketching; create image color dolls in Illustrator for sketch reviews. Sketch a portion of the season assortment for the Senior Designer

Prep Design Tech Packs – create detailed adopted sketches to send to TD. Partner with Designer to outline details or trims, assist with revisions. Submit to TD.

Fittings; attend fittings to learn garment insight & to capture all fit notes. Use notes as a team reference for revisions or future styles.

Keep files organized – digitally file sketches and tech packs. Organize and manage all fabric sample submits. Gatekeeper for PD reference binders.

Line sheets & process - create line sheets for color doll reviews, take notes on product changes. Prepare and send email communications to team/ Designers/ vendors.

Pre-walkthrough + walkthrough meeting attendance – support VP of Creative with meeting prep. Set order for garments on sample racks, creates walkthrough document, compiles model(s) dressing order and styles, takes meetings notes.

Line Adoption – organize style samples pre/post presentation. Prepares key information on each garment. Maintains style assortment racks.

Assists Senior Designer or VP of Creative by developing concepts & concept documents
Required success skills
-
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree Fashion Design, Merchandising, Graphic or Textile Design or similar

High proficiency using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator and MS office

1 -2 years (or more) of relative experience, will consider internship work and or “live” design course work. Desire to learn and grow in select category.

Strong time management and task prioritization

Ability to remain highly organized while working in a fast paced, fluid team environment

Ability to listen, communicate and follow direction and build relations with all levels while asking questions to seek guidance and clarity as needed

General understanding of garment construction, fabric and wash, preferred

Excellent digital CAD skills. Manual (by hand) sketching skills preferred.

Research savvy and trend watch using online channels and social media
